Before indicating the changes to be made in the softeners, we will give a brief explanation of the hardness of the water. The hardness is very variable, much of our country enters as very hard waters. There are places where 1710 ppm (100 gpg) is reached, so it is always necessary to perform an analysis of the water where the Clayton equipment will work . When the water is very hard from 855 ppm to 1710 ppm (50 to 100 gpg) the output hardness may not decrease. In this case, the resin cannot remove all the hardness from the water, so it has to be done very slowly or install other softening equipment such as a polisher. Remember the resin only supports up to 700 ppm (41 gpg), when this hardness is exceeded it is necessary to install other softening equipment such as a polisher and avoid future problems .

Well now we will talk about the problems encountered in the selection of softeners for water treatment, our price lists indicate two models, a column for 1 to 2 shifts, models E10 to model E40 from 0 to 100% return of condensed and double for 2 to 3 shifts. In the case of models E60 to E185, it considers the same data, only with the difference that for condensate returns from 0 to 50%, a different larger smoother is used when the returns are 50 to 100%, the smoothing is of lower capacity. When our commercial advisor talks to the client, he tells them that they will not work 24-hour days, so our commercial advisor suggests a simple softening, unfortunately it turns out that the softening team works 24 hours a day, exhausting the capacity of the resin, this The simple saying of not working 24 hours has an impact on the operation of the equipment and inconvenience for the client when our chemical advisors tell them that the softener is small and that it is necessary to change it for a double softener or, failing that, double softening due to the quality of the water. Remember, it is MANDATORY to always bring a water sample. Do not venture without this information. It is detrimental to the steam generation equipment and to the customer who feels cheated. All our softeners were calculated with a hardness of 250 ppm (parts per million). or 14.6 gpg (grains per gallon), this does not mean that a water analysis and calculation should not be carried out to ensure that the equipment they are marketing is appropriate. To help our teams and avoid future problems all single column softeners will be removed from our price list.
